Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.
Author Guidelines
The editor of the Indonesian Journal of Development Studies welcomes article submissions with the following writing guidelines:
- Articles have not been published in any other Media and do not contain any elements of plagiarism (we will check by Ithenticate).
- Types of articles suitable for publication include the following; research reports (laboratory, field, archives), conceptual ideas, studies, theory applications, issues reports, and book review.
- Please note the following requirements for submitting book reviews:
- books being reviewed should be newly published (within the last one year for books in Bahasa Indonesia and two years for books in other foreign languages), or it is the main reference of one of a field study.
- book reviews should be between 3-5 pages in length, and
- a copy/ scan of the book cover should be attached.
- Articles are written in Bahasa Indonesia or English (preferable) using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition.
- Manuscripts are typed 1,5 spaced in a quarto paper size (A4), with MAXIMUM 12 pages in length including references, pictures, and tables.
- Abstract and keywords should be written in English.
- The article should be in the form of an essay with the following structure (see/download MANUSCRIPT TEMPLATE) :
- Title (max 16 words): comprehensive, clear, precise and does not contain subtitles. The title is written in a capital letter with the font size of 16, formatted in bold and 1 space.
- Author’s name (without an academic degree) with an e-mail address, institution’s name and its address,
- An abstract is written in English, formulated in one paragraph contained 100-150 words which represent aim, method and result of the paper.
- Keywords in English (max. 10 words),
- Section and subsection: section and subsection title is written in bold with the font size of 11 and Times New Roman. The section title is written in a capital letter, while the subsection title is written using title case.
- Introduction (may include subsections) contains background, objectives,
- Methodology: literature reviews, theoretical framework (if needed), and materials and methods.
- Result and discussion can be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English, provide and discuss clearly on the problem and aim of the research
- A figure, table, and formula should include title, number, as well as detailed information and should be referred to in the text). The result which is displayed in a figure or table should be a final result. Figure and table referencing by mentioning the number not the position such as “ bellow”, “above” etc. but it should be “in table 4”, “in figure 2” etc.

- references listed should be referred to in the article.
- Articles should be submitted online. The article is written using Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) will be informed to the authors by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors.
- The author should be willing to revise their articles if needed
AUTHOR FEE
Indonesian Journal of Development Studies will charge a fee of IDR 1.000.000 / USD 75 to the author for article processing charges during the publication process. Once the issue is published, the author will get an issue by email.
SUBMISSION POLICY
All manuscripts must be prepared according to Indonesian Journal of Development Studies' Authors guideline. Upon the submission of the manuscripts, author(s) will receive the confirmation of the submission along with some submission declaration forms that need to be filled and signed before Editors can process the manuscript.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
