Abstract

Road damage can be caused by several factors including failure of the road support structure, asphalt quality, inadequate asphalt content, and mixing and compaction temperatures that do not meet predetermined specifications or standards. Methods to improve quality and minimize asphalt damage can be done by modifying the mixture by adding artificial rubber asphalt, natural rubber, and vulcanized rubber as additives to the asphalt mixture. The research aims to find out how the effect and efficiency of adding variates additives to the asphalt mixture based on the results of marshall testing which refers to the 2018 Bina Marga revision 2 specification. The results of marshall testing obtained asphalt mixture with vulcanized rubber variation produce the best marshall parameter value. Furthermore, the efficiency results obtained by the asphalt mixture with natural rubber variations are the best efficiency materials analyzed for cost, availability, and strength factors
