Author Guidelines

Akta Kimia Indonesia publishes articles in the discipline of chemistry, covering analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and biochemistry, as well as their application. Articles will be published if they have not previously been published and/or registered in another journal.

Types of Articles

Akta Kimia Indonesia accepts the following article types:

  • Research paper. The research paper reports the original work that has not been previously published. The reported work should be complete. The article length should be at minimum 8 pages and maximum 20 pages.
  • Review articles. The review article contains a comprehensive survey of previously published research on a topic that meets the journal's scope. There are no limitations on the length of the review paper or the number of figures or tables as long as they add insight to the discussion in the review paper.

Submission and revision process

The manuscript should be written in Indonesian or English.

Author should register first before submitting their manuscript using think LINK. If you have account in this journal, please proceed your submission in this LINK.

Registered manuscripts will be reviewed using the criteria of originality, significance, quality, and accuracy. The editorial team can accept, reject, or suggest authors improve the quality of their articles. For the manuscript that is suggested for revision, the authors should revise it according to the comments from the reviewer and re-submit it via the system by a specific date determined by the editor. The failure to submit the revised manuscript on a specified date could result in an extension of the publication process.

  • Template in Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) can be downloaded here.
  • Template in English can be downloaded here.

Please be sure to follow the author guidelines and the template. The following items should be presented in the submitted manuscript:

Email address of the corresponding author

Full postal address

Manuscript:

  • Includes keywords.
  • All figures (include relevant caption with proper numbering)
  • All tables (include relevant caption with proper numbering)
  • Ensure all figure and table citations in the text match correctly with the files provided.

Further consideration

  • All references cited in the text are listed in the Reference List and vice versa.
  • Permission has been obtained for use of copyrighted material from other sources, especially for the review article.

Article Structure

Title. The title should be concise and informative. Where possible, avoid abbreviations and formulae. The authors need to limit your title to 20 words or below.

Author names and affiliations. The author's given name(s) and family name(s) should be indicated clearly and are accurately spelled. The authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) should be put below the names. Please indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. The affiliation should be completed with the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.

Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing publication and post-publication. Ensure that the corresponding author's email address is provided, and their contact information is maintained and up to date. We encourage you to put the institutional email instead of the public domain.

Abstract
The abstract is written in English and Indonesian. The abstract consists of a maximum of 300 words containing the objectives, methods, principal results, and major conclusions. The abstract should not contain any references. Please avoid using non-standard or uncommon abbreviations in the abstract. But if essential, they should be defined at first mention in the abstract itself (and then later again when used in the text).

Keywords
Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 5 keywords. The keywords order should be arranged based on the relevance to the manuscript. Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Outline of manuscript

The manuscript is divided into sections and subsections. The section includes (1) an introduction, (2) methodology, (3) results and discussion, and (4) conclusions. The subsection should use the proper numbering below the section, for example, 2.1 Materials, 2.2 Synthesis of TiO2, etc. The minimum number of manuscript pages is 8 pages, and the maximum is 20 pages for the research article. No limit to the maximum number of pages for the review. The naming of figures and tables follows Arabic numbering.

Abbreviations
All abbreviations should be defined in the first mention of the abbreviation. When you use the non-standard or uncommon abbreviation in the abstract, they should be defined at first mention in the abstract itself. Subsequently, it should be defined again later again when used in the text.

Acknowledgments
The acknowledgment is put in a separate section at the end of the article before the references. The authors need to list those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., language help, writing assistance or proof reading the article, etc.).

Nomenclature and units
The authors should follow internationally accepted rules and conventions: use the international system of units (SI). If authors use other quantities, their equivalent in SI should be provided.

Math formulae
When using the math formulae, the authors should provide the math equations as editable text, not images. Present simple formulae in line with normal text where possible, followed by the proper numbering based on their appearance in the text. Each symbol in the text should be defined, following the equation.

Figure
The figures should be placed immediately with the corresponding discussion. The figures with high clarity should be embedded in the manuscript in a JPEG, JPG, PNG, or TIF file. The font type in the figures should be consistent with a proper font size. Maximum image size 15x20 cm.

The authors should ensure that each figure has a caption that is below the figure. The figure caption is written using Calibri, font size 11 pt, bold. A caption should comprise a brief title (not on the figure itself) and a description of the illustration. Any symbols or abbreviations should be described directly in the figure or the caption.

Tables
The table caption should be placed on the top of the respective table. The table caption is written using Calibri, font size 11 pt, bold. The font size in the table is 11 pt, or 10 pt if necessary. Number tables consecutively by their appearance in the text using Arabic numbering. If any footnotes are used in the table, place footnotes to tables below the table body and indicate them with superscript lowercase letters. Avoid vertical rules.

Citation in text
Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list but may be mentioned in the text. The citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

Reference formatting
The references are written following the IEEE format, based on numbering. The reference number in the manuscript is written in square brackets following the sentences before the comma or period in the end of sentences (example: …… is influenced by surface area [1].). Authors are encouraged to use Zotero or Mendeley when preparing the references.

Changes to authorship

Authors should consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript. Any addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal, or rearrangement.

In the case of adding or removing authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider the addition, deletion, or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended.

Article Processing Charge

In order to improve the quality of the article selecting process, Akta Kimia Indonesia applies the article processing charge policy, IDR 500.000, which started on article which is accepted in 2021.
